Don’t say goodbye to the old MG 3 in Australia yet

There is a new one, better equipped, but more expensive MG 3 arrives at dealers in the coming weeks, but the budget outgoing model will still be on dealer lots for a while.

MG Motor Australia has confirmed that there is still plenty of the outgoing car available.

“There’s little choice these days if you’re looking to buy a brand new car on a used car budget, but our aging MG 3 is currently priced at $18,990 drive away and we’ve got enough to see us through to December 2024 .” said MG Motor Australia National Sales Manager Brad Hrushch.

The new MG 3 features a significantly expanded list of standard safety equipment, but its base price has risen to $23,990 excluding on-road costs.

Once stocks of the outgoing MG 3 are sold out, MG will no longer have the cheapest car in Australia with Kia Picanto one more time bearing this title.

The Picanto range starts from $17,890 before on-road costs or $20,690 drive-away, with sports manual.

With the new MG 3 hitting dealerships in the coming weeks and the old one hanging around for a few months, MG should easily retain the title of Australia’s best-selling passenger car this year.

Moving forward, MG expects the MG 3 nameplate yes stay on top.

“We are quite confident that we will still be number one in this segment,” MG Motor Australia CEO Peter Chao told CarExpert.

It says the new-generation car’s higher price is justified because it has $7,000 worth of equipment added.

Every new MG 3 comes with autonomous emergency braking, blind spot monitoring, adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist and rear cross traffic alert – none of which are available on the outgoing car.

However, the lack of a safety kit has not hurt the MG 3 in the sales race.
